Actor Terms Playing Imam Khomeini’s Role Truly Hard Task
Actor Abdorreza Akbari who plays the role of Imam Khomeini in Behruz Afkhami’s Film is convinced that playing the role of Imam Khomeini is a hard task because of his mystical personality and behavior.
The impact of Imam Khomeini’s legacy is still alive among the people of Iran, he said, adding, "Every body expects this role to be performed in the best possible way."
"In this movie I play the role of Imam Khomeini at the time when Iraq attacked Iran (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war).
The Imam gave an outstanding speech that year and invited people to peace. His speech is also included in the movie," the Actor said according to Tehran Times.
"Although the movie focuses on Imam Khomeini, it mostly depicts the efforts of the reporters and journalists who were making their reports throughout the war."
Akbari, who is playing the role of Imam Khomeini for the second time following "The Morning Son", a biopic about the founder of the Islamic Republic, said that he plays the role of the Imam in his 60’s.
"Afkhami is a professional filmmaker and this is the fourth time I am playing in one of his productions after ‘The Morning Son’, ‘The Day of Satan’, and the TV series ‘Operation 125’," he remarked.
He also noted that he conducted research on Imam Khomeini and his works before accepting the role, "I visited the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works (ICPIMW) and asked for several books about the Imam."
"I also watched his speeches so I could imitate his behavior and speaking style," he concluded.
