Iranian Sparrows to fly to Vancouver
Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s Song of Sparrows is slated to be screened at the 2008 Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).
Majidi’s award-winning film is a comedy about an ostrich farmer, who is dismissed from his job and forced to leave his hometown.
Iran’s Reza Naji received the Best Actor Silver Bear award at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival for his brilliant performance in Majidi’s film.
The 27th edition of the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) will be held from Sep. 25 to Oct. 10, 2008 in Canada.
Critically acclaimed director, producer and scriptwriter, Majid Majidi was among the five international filmmakers, invited by the Chinese government to make a documentary about the city of Beijing before the 2008 Olympic Games.
