Esteqlal held 2-2 against Malavan
Malavan has come back from two goals behind to hold Tehran's popular soccer team Esteqlal to a 2-2 draw at the capital's Azadi Stadium.
Striker Arash Borhani opened the scoring for the Blues after 37 minutes but failed to convert a penalty in the 45th on Tuesday afternoon.
Esteqlal defender Amir-Hussein Sadeqi doubled the advantage just after the break with a strong header from Khosro Heidari's free kick from the right.
The visitors, coached by Muhammad Ahmadzadeh, scored two goals in one minute to level matters.
Brazilian defensive midfielder Felipe Alves de Souza converted a penalty in the 58th and striker Muhammad Heidari scored the equalizer in the 59th minute of the game.
In other Tuesday matches, Sepahan thrashed Eeteqlal Ahvaz 5-0 and Peykan tied 1-1 against Saipa.
Sepahan, under Amir Qalenoi, tops the standings with 43 points followed by Zob Ahan on 37. Peykan sits third on 33 points after 21 games.
