Message from the Chancellor

heUnited Arab Emirates University was established to accomplish a mission, based on a clear, far reaching vision of H. H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The president of the United Arab Emirates, who succeeded his father the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, of placing UAE University in the forefront of scientific and technical seats of learning comparable to other internationally renowned universities. H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed has provided the university with full support and in return, UAEU has realized the importance of its role in the development of the country.

Today, I am proud to announce that the University is fully committed to and is successfully proceeding towards the achievement of its set goals. It has left its indelible marks by its contribution towards the advancement of science and development in knowledge and technology. It has striven to provide a strong and purposeful educational environment in order to prepare students to confront the competitive world. It has addressed the issue of self-learning and independence of thinking through the use of the latest educational philosophies and technological environments.

Since Information Technology (IT) infrastructure has become a necessity for every modern progressive society, UAEU has wasted no time in adopting the latest technology to build a complete integrated IT infrastructure. It has integrated all aspects of IT services with those of the academy. Faculty, staff and students can utilize electronic services through Internet, Intranet, messaging services, specialized IT labs, online training, course information on the Web, etc.

Academics

As the coolness of fall moves in we can all rejoice in meeting students, friends and associates again as we begin another academic year. Our faculty have both grown and improved this year, which is something the UAEU should celebrate. Our new campus at Maqam is growing steadily and physical improvements have been made and are in progress on all of our campuses. We have added several graduate programs which expand the teaching and research activities of the institution further into the UAE culture. As we begin our study this year our graduates are assuming employment throughout the region. Let us continue the development of the UAEU.
