Lectures “Everything about Islam” will be read in Karelia

Last weekPetrozavodsk hosted the first lecture “Everything about Islam”, organized by the Clerical Department of the Muslims of Karelia. As the press-service of the Clerical Department of the Muslims of theVolga region reported to Islam.ru, the head of the Council of the Muslim journalists Ali Polosin chaired the meeting.

During his visit there also was a meeting with the representatives of the administration ofPetrozavodsk and Karelia. The meetings were devoted to the erection of the mosque and a Muslim cemetery in the city.

Jordan: Haj institute to be set up in Ma’an

Ma’an, Jordan,

Jordan’s Minister of Wakfs and the Affairs of Islamic Holy Sites, Dr. Ahmed Huleil, has announced that his ministry would soon set up a Haj Institute in the town of Ma’an, whose purpose would be to give induction courses to whose who intend to perform the Haj. He told a congregation of imams that the institute would be on the lines of those set up inAmman, the capital, and Irbid, and is part of the organization of the Haj groups. He said part of the induction would be the showing of relevant documentary films.

Malaysia: Islamic Summit hosting to cost over Ringgit 100m

Kuala Lumpur,

The Government of Malaysia has set aside a sum of Malaysian Ringgit 105 million for hosting the Islamic Summit in October, according to the Malaysian Foreign Affairs office here. Some commentators in the Muslim world have said that though it is useful for the various delegations to meet and discuss various matters and renew the unity of the Muslim Ummah, more needs to be done in reducing the cost of such meetings, and in increasing the effectiveness of their recommendations, which, in their opinion, should also be binding.
