Indonesia: Islamic course for women Jakarta, March 1 2003(IINA)
The World Assembly of Muslim youth (WAMY) has recently held a month-long Islamic training course for a group of 104 women in theWest Java town of Depok, Indonesia, entitled "A Righteous Woman is the Basis of a Meritorious Society".
Dr. Abdul Wahhab Noorwali Assistant Secretary General of WAMY said that the course had encompassed religious, educational, and social programs that focused on familiarizing the participants with the true message of Islam in addition to enhancing their religious and cultural awareness.
He pointed out that such propagation activity which underlined the importance of adherence to the teaching of the Holy Qur'an and Sunna (Prophet's teachings) came within the framework of WAMY'S complete educational, training and development programs designed for the people of Indonesia.

Pakistan: Education city to be set up near Islamabad

A unique educational city is to be build south of Islamabad by the Jama Islamiya Group. The city is envisaged to be a model city of its kind, where those living in it would be practicing Islamic values and principles. The city is to be built on 2,000 hectares of land, and is being called Cordoba (City of Knowledge). Primary and secondary school, as well as a college are to be built in the city, mosques, playgrounds, libraries, and other social facilities. Sale of pieces of land, for housing construction within the complex, has already started.

Thailand: Egypt approves Islamic Studies center
Cairo, 28/March 1 (IINA)
Egypt has approved the granting of aid for the setting up of an Islamic Studies center in Thailand, according to that country’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Surakbrat, who recently was on a visit to Egypt, where he met with the Sheikh of Azhar, Dr. Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi. The minister said later that Muslims account for ten million of Thailand’s population of around 70,000,000. The center is expected to cost around US$ 750,000, which would be borne by Egypt, and after its completion, the Azhar will supply it with the necessary curricula and terms of reference, as well as some teachers. Construction work on the center is expected to star this month, said the minister, and added that he also broached the idea of setting up an Islamic bank with the Azhar Sheikh, who, he said, was receptive to it.

Dubai to host Scientific Signs in Quran meets
Dubai, March 2 2003(Gulf News)
The International Commission of Scientific Signs in Quran and Sunnah, in collaboration with the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, announced that the "Seventh International Conf-erence of Scientific Signs in Quran and Sunnah" will be held in Dubai in October.
The conference will be held under the patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, from October 12-15.
The International Commission of Scientific Signs in Quran and Sunnah is a body of the International Islamic League and has an independent body concerned with scientific signs in Quran and Sunnah.
The main objectives of the seventh conference are setting down bases and rules that govern jurisprudence in scientific revelations of the Holy Quran and Sunnah, unveiling the meanings implied in Quranic verses and Hadith related to universal sciences, linking universal sciences with faith, employing scientific signs as a means for Islamic call Da'awa and coordinating and cooperating with institutions that are concerned with Quran and Sunnah.
The International Commission of Scientific Signs in Quran and Sunnah has organised and participated in a number of conferences and scientific symposia in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Senegal and Indonesia.
