The first care of the robbers after this was to examine the cave. They found all the bags which Cassim had brought to the door, to be ready to load his mules, and carried them again to their places, without missing what Ali Baba had taken away before. Then holding a council, and deliberating upon this occurrence, they guessed that Cassim, when he was in, could not get out again; but could not imagine how he had entered.
بعد از این واقعه اولین مواظبتی كه دزدان میتوانستند بكنند این بود كه غار را به خوبی بگردند. آنها تمامی كیسه هائی را كه كاظم دم درب برده بود تا آماده بار كردن روی الاغهایش كند را پیدا كردند و دوباره آنها را سرجایشان گذاشتند بدون اینكه از آنچه علی بابا قبلا برده بود بوئی ببرند. آنها سپس با هم مجلسی را تشكیل دادند و در مورد این واقعه تعمق كردند. آنها حدث زدند كه كه كاظم وقتی داخل غار بود نتوانست دوباره بیرون آید ولی دیگر نتوانستند تصور كنند كه او چگونه داخل رفته بود

Cassim, who heard the noise of the horses feet from the middle of the cave, never doubted of the arrival of the robbers, and his approaching death; but was resolved to make one effort to escape from them. To this end he rushed to the door, and no sooner heard the word Sesame, which he had forgotten, and saw the door open, than he ran out and threw the leader down, but could not escape the other robbers, who with their sabres soon deprived him of life.
كاظم كه صدای پای اسبها را در میان غار شنید در آمدن دزدها و مرگ زودرس خود به خودش شكی راه نداد ولی تصمیم گرفت كه برای فرار از دست ایشان یك تلاشی بكند. با این هدف به طرف درب دوید كه بلافاصله كلمه سسمی را كه فراموش كرده بود شنید و درب باز شد او سپس به بیرون دوید و سركرده دزدها را به خاك انداخت. ولی نتوانست از دست دزد دیگری كه بلافاصله او را از زندگی بی بهره كرد، فرار كند.

The robbers never gave themselves the trouble to pursue them, being more concerned to know who they belonged to. And while some of them searched about the rock, the captain and the rest went directly to the door, with their naked sabres in their hands, and pronouncing the proper words, it opened.
دزدها به خودشان زحمت تعقیب كردن و گرفتن قاطرها را به ندادند در عوض این قضیه آنها را مشغول كرد كه آن قاطرها متعلق به كی بودند و در حالیكه تعدادی از دزدان اطراف صخره را میگشتند سركرده دزدها و ما بقی ایشان با شمشیرهای آخته مستقیما به طرف درب رفتند. كلمات صحیح را ادا كردند و درب باز شد.

About noon the robbers chanced to visit their cave, and at some distance from it saw Cassims mules straggling about the rock, with great chests on their backs. Alarmed at this novelty, they galloped full speed to the cave. They drove away the mules, which Cassim had neglected to fasten, and they strayed through the forest so far, that they were soon out of sight.
در حوالی ظهر دزدها مجالی یافتند كه از غار بازدید كنند و در چند قدمی غار، قاطرهای كاظم را دیدند كه با صندوقهای بزرگی كه در پشتشان بود در اطراف صخره پرسه میزدند. آنها از دیدن این صحنه نو ظهور احساس خطر كردند و چهار نعل با تمام سرعت به سمت غار رفتند. الاغهائی را كه كاظم غفلت كرده بود آنها را به جائی ببندد به كناری راندند و آنها هم در پهنه جنگل هر كدام به سمتی رفته آنقدر دور شدند كه دیگر دیده نمیشدند.

Cassim had never expected such an incident, and was so alarmed at the danger he was in, that the more he endeavoured to remember the word Sesame, the more his memory was confounded, and he had as much forgotten it as if he had never heard it mentioned. He threw down the bags he had loaded himself with, and walked distractedly up and down the cave, without having the least regard to the riches that were round him.
كاظم اصلا انتظار این حادثه را نداشت و از خطری كه به آن مبتلا شده بود آنچنان وحشتزده شد كه هرچه بیشتر سعی میكرد كه كلمه سسمی را به خاطر بیاورد گیج تر میشد و آنچنان آن كلمه را فراموش كرده بود كه گویا اصلا نشنیده بود كسی به آن كلمه اشاره كرده باشد. او كیسهای طلائی را كه بر دوشش بود پائین انداخت و با پریشانی در غار بالا و پائین میرفت بدون اینكه كمترین توجهی به ثروتی كه در اطرافش بود داشته باشد.

He named several sorts of grain, but still the door would not open.
تا آنجا كه قدرت داشت كیسه های طلا را حمل كرده دم درب ـ غار ـ آورد ولی فكر او آنچنان از آن ثروتهای زیادی كه او میتوانست مالك شود پر بود كه اصلا در مورد آن كلمات ضروری كه موجب باز شدن در میشد فكر نمیكرد. از این رو بجای سسمی (كه به معنی كنجد است) گفت باز شو جو و بسیار متعجب شد وقتی دید در همچنان محكم بسته باقی مانده است. او اسامی چند نوع مختلف از غلات را برد ولی درب همچنان گشوده نمیشد

او فاصله زیادی تا رسیدن به تخته سنگ نداشت كه آن مكان را با نشانه آن درخت و سایر نشانه هائی كه برادرش به او داده بود پیدا كرد. او وقتی به مدخل غار رسید آن كلمات را ادا كرد ؛باز شو سسمی؛ و درب بلا فاصله باز شد و وقتی او داخل رفت پشت سرش بسته شد. هنگام بررسی غار او بسیار شگفت زده شد از اینكه به ثروتی بسیار بیشتر از آنچه از كلام علی بابا فهمیده بود دست یافته است.

كاظم كه دیگر چیز بیشتری از علی بابا نمیخواست او را ترك كرد در حالیكه تصمیم داشت قبل از او اقدام كند و امید داشت كه همه گنجها را برای خودش بگیرد. او صبح روز بعد در حالیكه هنوز كلی به طلوع خورشید مانده بود ، از خواب بیدار شد و با ده قاطر كه صندوقهای بزرگی را حمل میكردند و او تصمیم داشت كه همه را پر كند ، راهی جنگل شد و از مسیری رفت كه علی بابا به آن اشاره كرده بود.

علی بابا كه با آنكه خلق و خوی خوبی داشت در عوض اینكه از تهدیدهای اهانت آمیز برادر ناسرشتش بهراسد در حالیكه داشت از كوره در میرفت به او هر آنچه كه او میخواست را گفت حتی تمامی كلماتی را كه او باید استفاده میكرد تا اذن ورود به غار را داشته باشد.
