مورجیانا نزد بانویش رفت و علی بابا هم به دنبال او به راه افتاد. (همسر کاظم) با بی صبری بسیار به علی بابا گفت: خوب برادر ! از شوهرم چه خبری برایم آورده ای. علی بابا در جواب گفت: خواهر من در چهرۀ تو اثری از آسایش نمیبینم. در مورد سوالی که کردی من نمیتوانم راضی ات کنم _ یعنی آنچه میخواهی را تمام و کمال به تو بگویم _ مگر آنکه تمام قضیه را از اول تا آخر از من بشنوی بدون اینکه حتی یک کلمه سخن بگوئی. برای اینکه این به همان اندازه که برای من اهمیت دارد برای تو هم مهم است که این قضیه ای را که اتفاق افتاده است مخفی نگه داری.

When he came home, he drove the two asses loaded with gold into his little yard, and left the care of unloading them to his wife, while he led the other to his sister-in-laws house.
او كیسه های طلا را بر پشت دو الاغ دیگر نهاد و آنها را مانند سابق با چوب پوشاند، و سپس به درب دستور داد تا بسته شود ـ آن كلمات را خواند ـ و از آنجا كه زمانی را در انتهاء جنگل درنگ كرده بود كاملا مواظب بود كه قبل از فرارسیدن شب به شهر باز نگردد. وقتی به خانه رسید دو الاغی كه حامل كیسه های طلا بودند را به داخل حیاط هدایت كرد. و مسئله خالی كرن بارشان را به همسرش سپرد در حالیكه الاغ دیگر را به سمت منزل برادر زنش برد.

علی بابا درب خانه را كوبید و (مورجیانا) كه كنیزی زرنگ بود درب را باز كرد. علی بابا به خوبی او را می شناخت كه در مسائل گوناگونی كه مسئولیتشان را به عهده داشت آنچنان ابداعات مفیدی از خود ارائه میداد كه موفقیتش را ثابت كند.
When he came into the court, he unloaded the ass, and taking Morgiana aside, said to her, "The first thing I ask of you is an inviolable secrecy, which you will find is necessary both for your mistresss sake and mine. Your masters body is contained in these two bundles, and our business is, to bury him as if he had died a natural death. Go, tell your mistress I want to speak with her.
وقتی علی بابا وارد حیاط شد بارهای الاغ را خالی كرد و مورجیانا را به گوشه ای كشاند و به او گفت: اولین چیزی که از تو میخواهم رازی است که باید آن را محترم بشماری _ مخفی نگه داری _ كه آنچه بدست می آوری هم برای بانویت و هم برای من مهم است. جسد ارباب تو در این دو بقچه است و کار ما این است که او را به گونه ای دفن کنیم که گویا به مرگ طبیعی مرده است. برو به بانویت بگو که من میخواهم با او صحبت کنم .

او در اینكه چگونه آخرین حقوق برادری را در مورد برادرش اجرا كند زیاد درنگ نكرد و بدون معطوف شدن به اندكی محبت برادرانه كه به او ابراز كرده بود، ـ سریعا ـ به داخل غار رفت تا چیزی پیدا كند و آن مقدار باقی مانده از جسد را با آن بپوشاند و سپس آنها را بر روی یكی از الاغها گذاشت و رویش را با چوب پوشانید.

He went to the forest, and when he came near the rock, having seen neither his brother nor the mules in his way, was seriously alarmed at finding some blood spilt near the door, which he took for an ill omen; but when he had pronounced the word, and the door had opened, he was struck with horror at the dismal sight of his brothers quarters.
او به جنگل رفت و وقتی نزدیك صخره رسید و در حالیكه در مسیر خود نه برادرش را دیده بود و نه الاغهایش را، با یافتن مقداری خون كه در نزدیكی درب غار پخش شده بود به شدت ترسید و آن را به فال بد گرفت. ولی وقتی كه آن كلمات را گفته و درب غار باز شده بود از دیدن صحنة ناراحت كنندة یك چهارم برادرش ـ كه به چهار قسمت تكه شده بود ـ كاملا شكه شد.

She went home again, and waited patiently till midnight. Then her fear redoubled, and her grief was the more sensible because she was forced to keep it to herself. She repented of her foolish curiosity, and cursed her desire of penetrating into the affairs of her brother and sister-in-law. She spent all the night in weeping; and as soon as it was day, went to them, telling them, by her tears, the cause of her coming.
زن كاظم در این فكر بود كه چقدر این مسئله برای شرهرش مهم بود كه این معامله را مخفی نگه نداشته، به راحتی متقاعد شد كه حرف برادر شوهرش را قبول كند. او دوباره به خانه رفت و شكیبانه تا نیمه شب در انتظار شوهرش ماند. بعد از آن اشكهایش دو برابر شد و اندوهش كاملا محسوس بود چه آنكه مجبور بود این راز را نزد خودش نگه دارد. او از كنجكاوی اخمقانه اش پیشیمان شد. و به خواسته اش از اینكه به مسائل خصوصی برادر شوهر و زن او داخل شده بود دشنام میداد. او تمام شب را گریست و به محض اینكه صبح فرا رسید به سوی آنها رفت و با اشك علت آمدنش را به آنها گفت.
Ali Baba did not wait for his sister-in-law to desire him to go to see what was become of Cassim, but departed immediately with his three asses, begging of her first to moderate her affliction.
علی بابا منتظر نماند كه برادر زنش از او بخواهد كه برود ببیند چه اتفاقی برای كاظم افتاده است، چه آنكه فورا همراه به سه الاغش روانه شد درحالیكه از برادر زنش خواهش میكرد كه سعی كند ناراحتی اش را كاهش دهد (بر خودش مسلط باشد).

In the mean time, Cassims wife was very uneasy when night came, and her husband was not returned. She ran to Ali Baba in alarm, and said, "I believe, brother-in-law, that you know Cassim, your brother, is gone to the forest, it is now night, and he is not returned; I am afraid some misfortune has happened to him." Ali Baba, who had expected that his brother, after what he had said, would go to the forest, had declined going himself that day, for fear of giving him any umbrage; therefore told her, without any reflection upon her husbands unhandsome behaviour, that she need not frighten herself, for that certainly Cassim would not think it proper to come into the town till the night should be pretty far advanced.
در این اثناء زن كاظم بسیار مضطرب شد وقتی دید كه شب شد و شوهرش بازنگشت. او با پریشانی نزد علی بابا رفت و گفت: برادر شوهر! فكر میكنم كه تو میدانی كه برادرت كاظم به جنگل رفته است الان هوا تاریك شده و او برنگشته است. میترسم كه بدشانسی آورده باشد. علی بابا كه انتظار این را داشت كه بعد از آنچه به برادرش گفته بود او به جنگل رفته باشد، نپذیرفت كه به جنگل برود چرا كه ترسید شاید موجب رنجش او شود. از این رو بدون آنكه نسبت به رفتار نامناسب كاظم عكس العملی نشان دهد به همسر او گفت كه لازم نیست خودش را نگران كند زیرا یقینا كاظم نمیتواند در مورد اینكه به شهر برگردد به خوبی فكر كند مگر اینكه پاسی از شب گذشته باشد.

They agreed therefore to cut Cassims body into four quarters, to hang two on one side and two on the other, within the door of the cave, to terrify any person who should attempt the same thing, determining not to return to the cave till the stench of the body was completely exhaled.
از این رو دزدها بر این مسئله موافقت كردند كه بدن كاظم را به چهار قطعه تقسیم كنند، دو قطعه را در طرفی و دو قطعه دیگر را در طرف دیگر درب غار آویزان كنند. تا افرادی كه شاید در صدد انجام عملی مشابه عمل كاظم برآیند را بترسانند. آنها تصمیم گرفتند كه به غار برنگردند تا بوی تعفن جسد او كاملا از غار بیرون رفته باشد.

It came into their heads that he might have got down by the top of the cave; but the aperture by which it received light was so high, and the rock so inaccessible without, besides that nothing showed that he had done so, that they gave up this conjecture. That he came in at the door they could not believe however, unless he had the secret of making it open. In short, none of them could imagine which way he had entered; for they were all persuaded nobody knew their secret, little imagining that Ali Baba had watched them. It was a matter of the greatest importance to them to secure their riches.
این فكر به ذهنشان خطور كرد كه او ممكن است از بالای غار به داخل آمده باشد ولی آن روزنه كه نور را دریافت میكد ـنور را به داخل غار می آورد ـ بسیار بلند بود و آن صخره در بیرون بسیار دور از دسترس بود علاوه بر این علائمی كه نشان دهد او از آن بالا آمده باشد وجود نداشت از این رو آنها از این حدس صرفنظر كردند. به هر حال آنها نمیتوانستند باور كنند كه او از درب داخل آمده باشد مگر اینكه راز گشودن درب را بلد بوده باشد. كوتاه سخن آنكه هیچ یك از ایشان نتوانست بفهمد كه او چگونه داخل غار شده بود زیرا همه متقاعد بودند كه هیچ كس راز آنها را نمیداند دریغ از اینكه علی بابا ایشان را دیده است. این حادثه برای ایشان موضوعی بسیار پر اهمیت بود برای اینكه ـمواظب باشند تا ـ ثروتشان را حفظ كنند.
