Hamas rockets hit five Israeli cities
Palestinian fighters have fired more rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel on the 16th day of Israeli incursion into the besieged region.
Two Grad rockets landed in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba early Sunday morning, hitting a building and a car.
Hamas said Grad Qassam rockets have also hit the Israeli cities of Netivot, Sderot, Ashkelon and Ashdod.
At least six Israelis were wounded in the attacks.
On Saturday, at least 14 people were wounded in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon when a Palestinian rocket hit the city.
The Sunday rocket attacks on Israelis come as the Israeli forces have escalated their strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Tel Aviv launched an "all-out war" against the Gaza Strip on December 27, in what it described as a bid to stop the rocket attacks on Israeli towns and to topple the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip.
Despite heavy bombardment and a massive ground invasion The Israeli army has not been able to halt rocket firings form the coastal enclave.
Earlier Hamas political leader Khalid Mashaal described the Israeli bloody war on Gaza as a failure because it could not achieve its goals.
"The Zionists wanted to impose a humiliating defeat on us because the only obstacle to confront them is resistance, especially in the Gaza Strip," he said adding
"Perhaps the Zionists thought that in comparison with Hezbollah, we were weak and they could regain the reputation of their army following its defeat in Lebanon."
By killing women and children and by covering up the actual number of the Israeli casualties,Tel Aviv is trying to send a message to the Israeli population that they are victorious, he said.
The Hamas leader concluded that the Israeli army has not been able to stopp rockets being launched from the Gaza Strip after 15 days of heavy fighting and "they have not attained any of their aims. So what have they achieved?".
