The psychology professor had just finished a lecture on mental health and was giving an oral test. Speaking specifically about manic depression, she asked, ‘How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth, screaming at the top of his voice one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?’ A sports-minded young man in the rear raised his hand and answered, ‘He’s probably a football coach!’
Unused
A wealthy man needed a brain transplant. His doctor said he had two choices. One was a college professor’s brain at the cost of $10,000. The second choice was a famous politician’s brain for $500,000.
The patient asked why was the politician’s brain so expensive? The doctor replied, ‘It’s never been used!’
Uncomforting Words
A man was seen fleeing down the hall of a hospital just before his operation. ‘What’s the matter?’ he was asked. He said, I heard the nurse say, ‘It’s a very simple operation, don’t worry, I’m sure it will be all right.’ ‘She was just trying to comfort you, what’s so frightening about that?’ The patient replied, ‘She wasn’t talking to me. She was talking to the doctor!
