Hezbollah power will serve Lebanon
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Hezbollah leader says the resistance movement’s power is at Lebanon’s service so that it can withstand aggressions by enemies.
"Resistance feels a sense of duty towards the Lebanon strength; this sheer sense of duty has enabled the movement to achieve great victories against those who intend to harm the Lebanon strength," Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Tuesday at a gathering in Beirut.
Referring to Ehud Olmert’s recent remarks that hinted the demise of a Greater Israel, Nasrallah said "The Lebanese resistance pounded the last nail in the coffin of ‘Greater Israel’ conviction."
Hezbollah’s secretary general said the resistance has helped change power balance in the Middle East.
"That’s why Israel no longer threatens to resort to military options and prefers to sit down and negotiate in order to achieve its illegitimate goals in the region."
Nasrallah also referred to attempts by Israel to assassinate the movement’s senior figures as a failed strategy, saying it will further encourage resistance among the Lebanese.
"These plots can not affect the resistance. The resistance does not depend on one individual or leader. Resistance is a popular movement that has the ability to create leaders who would surely carry on the resistance cause," Nasrallah emphasized.
Hezbollah’s secretary general also warned the rival Lebanese factions about the dangers of stirring up violence in the country, saying, "The enemy plans to drag Lebanon into sectarian violence that would finally lead to another civil war in the country."
He further said that the government should not disregard Hezbollah’s defensive strength and the role it can play in Lebanon’s future defense strategy.
"The unique military tactics that the resistance pioneered in defeating Israeli army are now being used throughout the world; the Israelis themselves have employed these tactics in the Georgian conflict to face the Russian army."
