Jalizjand village
Jalizjand village is located 50 km north west of the city of Firoozkooh and has an altitude of 2177 meters above sea level. The village enjoys moderate fine weather during spring and summer but is cold in winter.
Since there are numerous heights and also a river called Vaashi near the village, the village boasts beautiful and novel sceneries. The monuments from the days of yore such as the remnants of castles and stone inscriptions in Vaashi passage located next to the village, and three mausoleums of Imamzadehs or noble persons from the prophet’s progeny show the old age of Jalizjand. According to the experts, human beings had inhabited around the village since the fourth century BC.
Locals of Jalizjand are Shiite Muslims and speak Farsi with an accent close to that of the people of Mazandaran. They are engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, and gardening, and due to being frequented by visitors, some of the locals work in the servicing sector. Vaashi River and the surrounding springs have provided the ground for farming and gardening. The main products of these farms and gardens are wheat, barley, alfalfa, potato, walnut, plum, apricot, and peach. Animal husbandry has resulted in producing meat, wool, and dairy in large amounts.
Due to some weather conditions, Jalizjand has a dense residential texture. The buildings are constructed in an architectural style that suits the villagers' life style. Residential units face the sun to make the maximum use of the daylight. Older houses are built of materials like stone, clay, adobe, and wood, while the newer ones have been affected by the urban architectural style and are made of iron beams, cement, cinder blocks, and chalk.
Thanks to having rural beauties, Jalizjand attracts many tourists during summer. The pure fresh air of the mountainous area and the unique sceneries, especially in spring and summer, draw a host of tourists and travelers.
The river banks in Vaashi passage and the famous waterfall, in addition to the green gardens of walnut, plum, apricot, and apple trees offer an appropriate atmosphere for people to spend their leisure time. But the most significant historic attraction of the village is the stone inscriptions which date back to the Qajar period. The inscription is square shaped and 2 meters above the river bed on a wall in the middle of Vaashi passage. This relief work is located on the steep slope of the mountain engraved on an arduous spot. The stone inscriptions in this region are attributed to the Qajar King, FathAli Shah and display the sceneries from a hunting resort, animals of prey, and the army commanders.
Many Iranians and foreigners come to the region, and pass along the river to see these beautiful impressive inscriptions during the whole year especially in spring and summer.
It is noteworthy that there are proper residential facilities in Jalizjand village and Vaashi passage for the tourists to have a good time. Besides enjoying the beauties of the region, tourists can take souvenirs such as honey and walnut on their way back home. And the final point about this village is that it is accessible via an asphalt road from the city of Firoozkooh.
