US Double-Standard Policies
Interview with Dr. Seyed Hadi Seyed Afqahi, Senior Researcher in Middle Eastern Affairs (Part 6)
In an interview with the Tebyan, Dr. Seyed Hadi Seyed Afqahi elaborates on the US double-standard policies in dealing with terrorism, particularly its measures regarding the ISIL in the Middle East.
In response to a question on the roots of the double-standard behavior of the hegemonic powers in dealing with the issue of terrorism, he said: “There is no scientific and academic definition of terrorism in cultural level, universities, research and strategic centers or even official international circles. When a terrorist group fail in accomplishing their mission, the United States and Western allies claim fight against that terrorist group.”
He pointed to the United States international coalition against ISIL and said: “It has been proven that the United States has created ISIL.”
Seyed Afqahi referred to Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and British Prime Minister David Cameron’s press conference and said: “Davutoglu in response to a question on why the US has forced Turkey to join its coalition said it was the United States that created ISIL.”
What can be concluded from Afqahi’s remarks is that the United States is the creator of the ISIL, which was established to forward US goals. But when the Iraqi and Syrian peoples and governments joined hand to uproot this terrorist, group the US decided to pretend to be opposed to this group. However, the existing documents indicate that the US is promoting a war of attrition in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria. As a result the US not only does not help the Iraqi government but also supports the ISIL terrorists as soon as the Iraqi government advances in some fronts. In Syria the US is openly on the side of terrorists and assists them.
