A Short Biography of Martyr Hussein Kharrazi:
Dedicated Soldier (Part 2)
In 1981 and after the liberation of Bostan, he officially founded the Imam Hussein brigade which, as a result of his and his forces’ courage and sacrifices, was upgraded to the Imam Hussein division. Kharrazi personally went on reconnaissance missions and his commandeering methods mainly revolved around the element of surprise and laying siege around the enemy. During the operations Valfajr-3 and Valfajr-4, he took active part in the operation of his dyke all night until dawn and led all operations. Hussein recited Qur’an with his rich, fine voice and knew the concepts of its verses by heart. In addition to possessing remarkable military acumen, he was uniquely brave. He believed in military discipline and was extremely diligent in the military training of efficient personnel. He was excessively meticulous in dealing with public funds and divine commandments.
From 1978 until his last moment in the war, his only real vacation was the pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj) in September 1986. In other cases, Kharrazi took leave only once a year for a short period of time, during which he visited the family of martyrs and the disabled or the martyrs’ cemetery, and promptly returned to the frontline. During his time at the front, 30 shell splinters struck his body and in the Kheybar, he lost his right arm. Despite having only one arm, he worked very hard to ensure maximum supply and preparation for the soldiers at the forefront. In operation Karabala-5, when the delivery of food to the troops got disrupted as the enemy’s artillery was firing at its peak capacity, Haj Hussein took it upon himself to resolve the issue, but, as a result of a mortar explosion on February 27, 1987 he fell martyr, joining the army of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in the heaven, his Ashurayi soul becoming a pilgrim of Karbala. He was, upon his own will, buried in the Martyrs’ Section of the graveyard among his basiji fellowship.
