Leadership of Imam Ali (A.S) in the Qur’an
The Verse of Proclamation is one of the verses explicitly referring to the leadership of Imam Ali (A.S). This verse announces the end of Prophet’s mission and the beginning of the leadership of Imam Ali (A.S). In the following articles there are 10 reasons and matching facts to help us understand that the verse was revealed on leadership of Imam Ali (A.S). Attempts have been made to provide response to all arguments of some scholars and exegetists who oppose this notion.
God commanded obeying those in authority but they did not know what it is and who the one in authority is. So, the Almighty God commanded His Messenger to interpret the Islamic leadership to his people as he does with prayers, zakat… When this commandment was given, the Prophet became worried of the fact that the only one competent leader of Muslim Ummah may face opposition and enmity because of the unresolved rancor of the battles of Badr, Hunayn, Uhud, or because of wealth and power, or because of their kindred… The Prophet (PBUH) sought help from God and the Almighty God sent this verse: “O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people." The Prophet (PBUH) announced the Will of God. Following an introduction he delivered on the status of the leadership of Muslim Ummah, and reiterating the fact that it is the continuation of leadership by Imam Ali during the past 20 years, he opined on the qualities of Imam Ali (A.S) and his qualification for leadership. The only issue raised this way, was the leadership of Imam Ali (A.S).”
