Iran University of science and Technology was first established in 1929 as the Iranian Institution for Higher Technical Education. Ultimately in 1978,It was awarded the status of university and has gained a nationwide reputation as one of the  largest and most significant universities of engineering as well as science in Iran, providing both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Located in the Northeast of Tehran, IUST and it's surrounding communities offer cultural and recreational environment ideally suited to the work of a major research institution. The university is residential campus of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, residence halls and recreational and cultural facilities with 37 major buildings on 42 hectares of landscaped land. IUST with a privilege of 280 highly competent full-time faculty members and several research laboratories and research centers offers degrees in the areas of basic science, technical and engineering disciplines. IUST is one of the most active universities of Iran for graduate studies and welcomes candidates to enter to the MSc. and PhD programs. at present over 4432 students are studying at BSc level, over 1257 students are studying for MSc. and over 148 are doing Ph.D. disciplines in 11 department ,44 instruction groups and 83 fields of study at this university.
