Islamic University of Al-Madinah
http://www.iu.edu.sa/english/index.htm The Islamic University of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah is an Islamic educational institution functioning on a world basis under the auspices ofSaudi Arabia.
It was founded by the government ofSaudi Arabia by the royal decree no. 11 issued on25/3/1381 A.H. with a view to spreading the teachings of Islam world-wide. 8590 of the total enrolment has been allocated to non-Saudi students.
Study at the faculty of Shariah, the first amongst the University’s faculties to be opened started on Jumadul-Akhir 1381 A.H.
The main objectives of the university are:
To convey the eternal message of Islam to the entire world by means of dawah, call to Islam. We aim to do this through University education and post-graduate studies.
Inculcating and fostering the community upon practicing the teachings of Islam and worshiping the only true God, Allah alone with utmost sincerity and devotion.
Imparting religious knowledge to students who come from different parts of the world and fostering them to become highly qualified scholars, specialized in various Islamic Arabic disciplines.
Collecting, verifying and publishing works relating to Islamic heritage.
Maintaining and fostering scholarly and cultural ties with other universities and scientific institutions and organizations throughout the world to serve the noble cause of Islam and its great objectives.

Faculty of ShariahFaculty of Shariah is the first faculty in the university. It was established upon the royal decree no. 11 on 25.3.1381 AH. The study started on Sunday 2.6.1381 with 85 students in the scientific departments of the faculty:
Departent of Fiqh (jurisprudence)
Department of Usulul-Fiqh
Department of judicature
The faculty awards the BSc degree in judicial sciences and phD, MSc degrees are available in majors. The faculty also has its own library containing 25,049 books.
Faculty of DawahThe faculty of dawah and usul-ud-deen was founded according to royal consent no. 332/M dated 4.5.1386 AH. The study started on Saturday 1.7.1386 AH. The scientific departments of the faculty:
1- Department of Islamic Belief.
2- Department of the call to Islam.
3- Life history of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) & Islamic history department.
4- Education department.
The faculty awards BSc. in Theology & Islamic Law, MSc and phD degrees in available majors. The faculty also has a library containing approximately 23,390 books about different branches of Islam.
Faculty of Qur'anThe faculty was founded according to royal high consent no.6511 dated on 5.9.1394 AH and the study started on Monday 6.10.1394 AH.
The scientific departments of the faculty:
1- Al-Qirat dept (types of reading of the Holy Qur’an)
2- Tafsir (exegesis) department
The faculty awards BSc. degree in Holy Quran & Islamic Studies, phD and MSc degrees in available majors the faculty has alibrary opened on 1394 AH. It contains 20741 books , most of these books are about Qur’an sciences.
Faculty of HadithThe faculty was founded upon royal consent No.15653 dated on 23.6.1396AH and the study started on 24.10.1396AH
The scientific departments of the faculty are:
1-Jurisprudence of the sunnah and its sources.
2-Hadith sciences department.
