Denmark: Islamic Wakf mulled

The process of setting up an Islamic Wakf (endowment) has started here, for the purpose of acquiring a cemetery for the Muslim community. Cemeteries in Europe cost a lot of money, because land is not cheap, and the Islamic Council here is setting up this Wakf just for this purpose.

Brunei Urged To Learn From Neighbours

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei could share with, and learn something new from its neighbors in religious administration and knowledge based on the holy Quran.

In this context a seminar on the subject was held between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and delegations from Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia. The seminar was held yesterday morning in conjunction with the National Quran Reading Competition for adults for 1424 Hijrah.

The minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Brigadier General Abdul Hamid Haji Zainal Abidin, said Malaysia has us own policies and procedures in the Islamic education. The Education Ministry, Haji Zainal said, is responsible in implementing the Al-Quran lessons at schools to enable students to acquire basic skills. By acquiring the skills, the students will be able to proceed to the Quran level, memorising the holy verses and understanding the contents. This way, Haji Zainal said, we will produce young people who love the Quran.

Haj: Unified efforts in conveying pilgrims to the holy land

Abidjan,

At a meeting held here, 15 African airlines have agreed to coordinate their efforts and flights in conveying intending pilgrims from West Africa to the holy land.

The purpose is to avoid the constant delays and guffaws that were taking place in the past in conveying the pilgrims to and from the holy land, and the inconveniences that they caused to the pilgrims. The new plan will be devised by the airlines and then presented to the heads of state for their approval, and would include ways and means of at least minimizing, if not completely eliminating the loss of luggage belong to passengers.

 The countries involved in the new plan are Niger, Senegal, Togo, Mali, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso, and Benin
