Morocco, Pak to encourage Islam

Morocco and Pakistan have signed an agreement designed to encourage the practice of a moderate form of Islam in both countries through a program of exchanges, official sources said.
The agreement will set up a system of cooperation between the ministers for Islamic affairs in each country and will include the construction of mosques.
Pakistan will also benefit under the agreement fromMorocco's expertise in Islamic sculptures and decoration, the sources said.
The accord was signed at the end of a two-day official visit toMorocco by Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf.
An official inRabat said Thursday that the visit would be a chance to strengthen the close relations between the two countries and for Musharraf andMorocco's King Mohammed VI to discuss both political and economic issues of common concern.
Two other agreements were signed: a science and technology accord that will involve the exchange of both specialists and information, and an environmental agreement setting up bilateral policies in the field of sustainable development.

An Islamic conference held here recently called upon all Muslims in the world to cooperate for the sake of getting rid of the capitalist system. The conference’s theme was “Islam in Europe” and it was attended by around 2,000 Muslims. A few days prior to the conference, Grenada saw the opening of a mosque, after a hiatus of 500 years, during which it was not possible to establish a mosque in this city. The main speaker at the conference was Omar Ibrahim Vadillo, an indigenous Spanish Muslim and leader of the Islamic Group in Spain that is opposed to the capitalist economic system. He called upon all Muslim countries to stop using the Western currencies, such as the dollar, the pound sterling and the Euro, and instead use the gold Dinar, adding that this would greatly help in uniting the Muslims of the world.

The Azhar University of Egypt has approved the furnishing of the Sana’a University in Yemen with its curricula, and also with teachers who would teach a number of specializations, particularly dentistry, according to Dr. Omar Hashim, Rector of the Azhar University. He said those who complete their undergraduate studies in dentistry would be eligible to join the Azhar University for post-graduate and doctoral degrees. He said the two universities have also agreed on conducting joint researches, for the benefit of their respective countries. He said the Yemeni university has chosen the Azhar because it is the oldest Islamic university in the world, and has gathered a wealth of experience in many fields, adding that at present there are around 800 Yemeni students taking up studies at the Azhar.
