Ireland holding some ancient Islamic manuscripts

Dublin, March 10 (IINA)

In the Irish Republic’s capital of Dublin there are a number of ancient Islamic manuscripts that are housed at the Chester Beatty Library, one of the well-known libraries ofEurope.

The founder of the library collected the manuscripts from various sources and countries, such as Arab countries,Iran, India, and Turkey, with most of them dating back to the eight century of the Gregorian calendar, and others as recent as the 20th century.

Among the manuscripts are 265 copies of the Holy Qur’an, in manuscript form, among them one by the well-known scribe, Ibn Albawwab, who lived in the middle Ages. There also are 2,650 Arabic manuscripts on numerous subjects, such as Fiqh, history, various sciences, and others. Other manuscripts are in the Persian language, 330 in all, mainly those of such well-known poets as Firdausy, Sa’ady, and Hafidh.

Ireland has more scholars in Islamic Studies than any other non-Muslim country.

WAMY builds new mosque in Palestine

Jeddah, March 10 (IINA)

The Riyadh-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has built a new mosque in Occupied Palestine, at a cost of SR 65,000, according to Dr. Abdul Wahhab Noorwali, assistant secretary-general of WAMY (Makkah Regional Branch). He said the mosque is known as the Abi Bakr Mosque, and has been built in an area that lacks facilities for worshipping.

Uganda: Sacrificial meat distributed

Jeddah, March 10 (IINA)

The Riyadh-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has distributed sacrificial meat in various towns and cities of Uganda, such as the capital, Kampala, Masaka, Jinja, Iganga, Mubingi, and Mbarara. The distribution benefited mostly the poor, needy families, as well as orphans and students.

Hussaini commemoration constant in Toronto; Procession taken out

TORONTO, Canada: Muslims in Canada like other parts of the world are commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (A.S) by holding holy gatherings of sorrow to memorialize the great sacrifices of Imam Hussein (A.S) and his companions little over 1423 years ago on the plain of Karbala situated on the bank of the Euphrates, 105 km from Baghdad, Iraq.

Professor Dr. Masoom Abidi addresses at Hussainiyah, Toronto at 8:00 PM every day till 15th March. After that, a question and answer session is going to be held.
