Kuwait sends aid to Ammara
Kuwait City,
The Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society has dispatched the 15th consignment of aid from the people ofKuwait to the people of Iraq, specifically to the people of Ammara city, according to Yusuf Al-Miraj, chairman of the society’s Relief Committee, who added that the three Lorries are carrying 60 tons of relief materials, including water. He said that since his Society began to send aid toIraq on March 26, to date, the society has sent 58 Lorries, comprising 590 tons of relief materials, plus a number of ambulances.

Hala Zein-Sabatto graduated Saturday from the only school she's ever attended, the Nashville International Academy, a small but growing private academy run by the local Muslim community.Hala just finished sixth grade, the highest offered at the school. The school she has attended since she was a kindergartner is like a second home for her. Hala was one of more than 80 students celebrating the end of the school year at Gower Elementary School in Bellevue, a few blocks from the International Academy's cluster of portable classrooms on Charlotte Pike. Parents and others from the Muslim community who assembled in the public school cafeteria also were celebrating the growth of the 7-year-old school and looking forward to a construction project expected to begin in August.The community will be building a $2.5 million school and gymnasium. When that is finished, the community plans to build a mosque at the same location.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been admitted as a member of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM).The admission ofIran, a major player in Islamic finance, is expected to provide a major boost to the IIFM, whose mission is to create and develop an international market of Islamic financial instruments by promoting and facilitating cross-border investment activity. The membership of Bank Markazi Jomhouri Islami Iran (Central Bank of Iran) was approved at the fifth meeting of the Board of the IIFM, which is based in Bahrain.
The meeting was held recently in Bahrain, at the IIFM headquarters. It was chaired by Mr. D M Qureshi, Chairman of the IIFM.
The IIFM Board comprises top officials from monetary authorities and central banks ofBahrain, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sudan, as well as the Islamic Development Bank.
The Board also includes several market players, which are Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (UAE), Kuwait Finance House (Kuwait), Shamil Bank of Bahrain (Bahrain), Bank Islam (Malaysia) and El-Nilein Industrial Development Bank Group (Sudan).
Iran’s membership also includes representation on the IIFM Board.
“We welcome the admission ofIran, which has been a major force in the global Islamic banking industry,” said Mr. Qureshi.
