Islamic teachers leave Cambodia
Cambodia says nearly all of the 28 Islamic teachers and their families ordered out of the country in a crackdown on Muslim militancy, have left of their own accord.
The Interior ministry said 44 people, including the teachers, their wives and children, had flown out of the country.
The remaining three deportees would be leaving as soon as their air tickets were sorted out.
The teachers are mostly from Thailand, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan and Pakistan.
Cambodia last week shut down the school and charged three of its teachers, two Thais and an Egyptian, with suspected links to the militant Islamic group, Jemaah Islamiah.
TheUS has long been concerned about Cambodia's growing number of Islamic schools, mostly funded from theMiddle East.

Anglican Church Establishes Islamic Centre
The Kaduna province of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has established a centre for the study of Islam. The Archbishop of the province; the Most Rev. Josiah Idowu Fearon disclosed this in Kaduna on Friday at the 16th Synod of the province.
The province comprisesKaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi and Sokoto states.
According to Fearon, the Islamic centre was established in collaboration with the Barnabas Fund, United Kingdom.
Noting that the centre would take off fully in August, Fearon explained that the objective was to enable students have basic knowledge of Islam, "so as to be able to hold meaningful discussions with their Moslem neighbours and also help them (Moslems) to understand the Christian faith as well."

The first nation-wide Holy Qur’an Memorization Contest has been held in the Russian Federation, since the fall of the former Soviet Union.
The contest was held at the Riu Islamic University in this capital of Tartaristan, and the response from all the regions of the Federation has been described as positive, in that 90 young men and 20 young women from the various regions participated in it.
Even the adjudicators at the contest were drawn from various regions, as well as from the Islamic university here, presided over by Sheikh Othman Hazarat Is-Hacov, Rector of the university. Previous Qur’an contests were largely confined to participants who were students of that particular university.
The purpose of such contests, said one of the senior scholars who officiated at the function is to encourage the Russian Muslim youths to learn more and more about their faith, and to discover new talents in the memorization of the Holy Book.
