City gears up for Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations

LAHORE,

The 1477th Jashn-e-Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday celebration of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him), will be observed with religious fervor on May 15 across the country.
A large number of processions will be taken out from several parts of the city to mark the Prophet’s birthday. The illumination and decoration of the main localities, especially the Walled City, will also be another important part of the celebrations.
Small processions from various places will later join a much larger procession at the Lohari Gate. As per routine participants will recite Naa’t to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Religious leaders will highlight the Prophet’s teachings and various aspects of his life.

Seminar on women in Batinah, Oman

SOHAR,

The Directorate-General for Social Development in the Batinah region organised a seminar on the role of women in serving the community.
The seminar was organized in the conferences hall at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of Dr Thuwaibah bint Ahmed Al Barwani, social development undersecretary, in the presence of the walis of the Batinah region, members of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura, directors-general and heads and members of Omani Women’s Associations in the region.
The seminar covered three working papers that dealt with women and Al Shura, women and work and voluntary work in the Sultanate.

Malaysia planning a satellite channels

Kuala Lumpur,

The Malaysian authorities are planning to set up a satellite television channel that would cover the entire globe, on the pattern of the Arabic channel, ALJAZEERA and the ABU DHABI channel. The objective of setting up such a channel is to projectMalaysia’s political stand on various global issues, and to highlight the situation in the country, particularly the education, tourism, and investment aspects, according to Malaysia’s Minister of Information, Khalil Yacoub. He said negotiations are now going on with Malaysian financiers and one of the satellite stations, for the quick implementation of this project. Yacoub added that it is imperative for Malaysia to have such a channel, so that the worlds, and particularly the Muslim world, are aware of the facts behind any stand taken by his country (people and government) towards issues that concern the Muslim society in particular and the world in general.
