G5+1 to respond positively to Iran’s proposals: EU official
Press TV reports a senior EU official says the 5+1 Group of world powers intends to give a positive response to Iran’s proposals as discussed during the first round of talks between Tehran and the G5+1 in the Kazakh city of Almaty.
Michael Mann, the spokesman for the European Union's Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton told on Thursday: “You have put on the table a revised proposal at Almaty back in February, and now we want to give a clear and concrete response to that proposal, and a positive response.”
Mann’s remarks come as Iran and the G5+1 -- the US, Britain, France, China, and Russia plus Germany -- are set to start their second round of talks in Kazakhstan’s former capital city of Almaty on Friday.
The two sides have already held several rounds of talks the last of which took place in Almaty on February 26-27.
The US, Zionist regime, and some of their allies claim that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union using the false claim as pretext to impose illegal sanctions against Iran.
Tehran rejects the allegation over its nuclear energy activities, noting that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
