IRGC Starts Massive Ground Wargames
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force started massive wargames, codenamed Payambar-e Azam 8 (The Great Prophet 8), which include exercising different defense tactics in Southern Iran.
Speaking to reporters, Spokesman of the Wargames General Sarkheili said at the first stage the participating IRGC units started "stable regional defense" after they were joined by Basij (volunteer) units.
"In this phase, units entered the battlefield backed by aerial and artillery firepower and intelligence support by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in a bid to fulfill the (specified) objectives and bring the targets under direct fire," Sarkheili stated.
He also added that the IRGC's electronic warfare systems successfully identified and thwarted the hypothetical enemy's electronic jamming campaign at this phase of the wargames.
On October 2, The IRGC conducted three-day massive missile wargames, codenamed Payambar-e Azam 7 (The Great Prophet 7), during which it conducted heavy missile tests in various sites across the country.
Earlier, Commander of the IRGC Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour had told reporters that the massive wargames will be held in Iran's Southeastern regions of Kerman, Siriz and Sirjan.
The IRGC drills are aimed at maintaining and improving the combat preparedness of the IRGC ground forces, testing the latest combat systems of the IRGC Ground Force and exercising different asymmetric warfare tactics.
