Imam Reza (A.S) and the Qur’an (Part 1)
The present short is an attempt to explain the behavior of Eighth Divine Imam – Imam Reza (A.S) - and his relation with the holy Qur’an which provides an incomplete report of Qur’an-based practical behavior of Imam Reza (A.S).
Although there are a few historical proofs and Hadiths in this regard, such few texts left from primary sources will be presented to the lovers of the holy Qur’an as the best gift.
Reading and contemplating on the Qur’an
One of the narrators and companions of Imam Reza (A.S) named Ibrahim Ibn Abbas presents an interesting report in regard to Imam’s treatment of the Qur’an:
Imam Reza (A.S) read the entire Qur’an during three days and nights and repeatedly told his companions: I could finish it in less time, but my method is to contemplate on each verse to understand its field and occasion of its revelation. Thus, I usually finish it in three days and nights.[1]
Discourse with Qur’an
He also adds: whatever the Imam (A.S) said and answered beside his examples had roots in Qur’an verses.[2]
