NAM summit changed fallacies about Iran: Vice president
Iranian Vice President Muhammad Reza Mir-Tajeddini says Iran’s hosting of the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has enormously altered misconceptions about the Islamic Republic.
“The Tehran summit changed the negative mentality of many countries about the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Mir-Tajeddini on Saturday.
“In Tehran, the NAM member states closely witnessed Iran’s achievements in different spheres,” he added.
The new positive change in the conceptions “will be very effective” in Iran’s future ties with the NAM member states and provide further grounds for mutual cooperation, the vice president pointed out.
He also expressed optimism that Iran’s three-year presidency over the NAM will bring about the enhancement of ties among the member states and the promotion of the movement’s role in the global arena.
The 16th NAM Summit wrapped up in the Iranian capital on August 31, with the member states passing a final resolution, which included over 700 clauses.
