Imamzadeh Hashem village

 It comprises of plains and highlands. Its highlands and foothills cover a larger area and are 300 meters above sea level. The climate of this village is moderate and humid. This village's history dates back to several centuries ago and in ancient times had been referred to as "Askar Sara Kamad". Meanwhile, following the burial of Seyyed Hashem, an Imamzadeh or descendant of Prophet Muhammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny), the Imam), the village was renamed as Imamzadeh Hashem. According to the content of the deed for an endowment, the date of burial of Seyyed Hashem was 897 AH. The residents of this village speak in both the Azeri and Gilaki languages. Its economic mainstay is farming, animal husbandry, and services. The Sefidrood River that passes through the eastern corner of the village has led to development of rice farming and rice is the most important crop of this village. The location of this village on the Qazvin-Rasht highway has led to the seeking of occupation by many rural dwellers in the services and commercial sectors. The other activities of residents of this village include breeding poultry such as hens and ducks; and knitting of socks and scarves by the rural women. Imamzadeh Hashem Village has a scattered linear fiber and has expanded parallel with Sefidrood River and the highway. The village is comprised of three districts namely: "Gaalesh Mahalleh", which is mainly residential, "Baala Mahalleh" which is pilgrimage, and "Paeen Mahalleh" which is mainly commercial and administrative. Buildings in this village are partly old and new. The construction materials used in old houses include wood, mud, stones and straws. But, the new houses are made of bricks, cements, iron bars, and galvanized sheets. Most of the houses are tin-roofed and made of intertwined rooms and chambers linked together via a balcony. Houses have large courtyards and are separated from each other by walls. This village is host to pilgrims throughout the year. Meanwhile, the thick forest with long pine, spruce, and poplar trees is one of the most important tourist attraction sites of this village. Sefidrood River, which is the largest river in Gilan Province passes through the eastern corner of this village and its banks are thronged by tourists in the spring and summer seasons. The river, its surrounding rice paddies, on one hand, and the thick and beautiful forest, on the other hand, provide an eye-catching view. The Shrine of Imamzadeh Hashem is located at the peak of this mountainous village and covers an area of 7,500 square meters, of which 1,200 meters is roofed and the rest is the cemetery and open space. This building was harmed during World War I by the Russians, and later by Reza Khan's Cossack forces during heir brutal suppression of the popular uprising launched by Mirza Kouchek Khan Jangali. Therefore, the ancient and original structure of the shrine no longer exists. The shrine has been reconstructed on a number of occasions.

The residents of this village wear indigenous clothes during ceremonies and weddings, while wearing ordinary clothes on other occasions.
