Mahshar - Abadan road offensive operation (June 21st, 1981)
Khorasan 77lh infantry division of Iranian army which had been dispatched to the battle field on the early days of war was transferred to Mahshahr at the end of March. 1980 and took over the regional command from Arvand headquarter.
Confronting Iraq, implementation of limited operation, raising the Abadan siege and liberating Khorramshahr had explicitly been mentioned in the division’s transitional instruction.
The 77th division by making suitable decision created Vahdat road through Abadan- Khorramshahr road to khosroabad changed sea traffic into that of land and facilitated the supply to Abadan & Khorramshahr very much.
This division by applying its existing manpower accomplished a limited operation on May I5th, 1981 which Resulted in the seizure of Abadan’s shooting field and enemy’s barricade situated on the North of shooting field and then stabilized them. Later on, “the commander in chief” operation was launched on June 11th, 1981 in Darkhovein and Salmaniyeh region which was very successful. Following these two operations, another limited operation with the participation of Navy marines, Islam's devotees and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps started in the south of Mahshahr-Abadan road which was thoroughly successful.
Result:
-Some parts of Mahshahr-Abadan road got out of enemy's control.
-Many were killed or wounded and four people were captured.
-Two loaders were confiscated and ‘30 caterpillar tractors of the enemy were either damaged or confiscated.
