True Happiness
What is happiness? What is reality? Who is happy?
True happiness belongs to the one who has a healthy body. In the words of Qur’an, “So Peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)!” One is happy who is born healthy, lives healthy, dies healthy and is raised up to life in a state that is able to answer the questions he or she is asked in the hereafter. Such a person is a happy and successful person. Wealth does not bring happiness or success. One becomes successful who is healthy and who lives according to the commands of the Holy Qur’an. This is what the abovementioned verse means.
How to feel Happy
The Qur’an has three suggestions for one to feel happy: 1.To believe in God from the bottom of one’s heart. 2.To do good deeds. 3.To stay away from evil deeds.
This will guarantee the happiness both in this life and in the life in hereafter. That is because people are rewarded or punished in the hereafter based on their deeds in this world.
One might ask how is it that the Qur’an promises the believers to experience happiness in this world too, while in many regards and many a time they have difficult lives in this world and they do not have much property or wealth either.
The answer to this question is that the believers feel the happiness by worship and good deeds. In fact, the hardships in the life of a believer indicate that God is testing their patience and faith. These very tests help man elevate the stages of progress and spiritual sublimation.
Therefore, living in this world is not possible, but with effort and struggle. The believers should accept whatever God has decided for them and should believe that there is a reason for everything God has destined for them. They find pleasure in God’s pleasure. Thus, they find true happiness even if their lives seem hard on the surface.
May God help us not to be deceived by the false pleasures of this world so that we achieve true happiness!
