Gaddafi, sons holed up in Tripoli bldg
The fugitive Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi and several of his sons have been holed up inside a building in Tripoli, as revolutionaries seek to further consolidate their grip on the Libyan capital city.
According to Reuters on Thursday, a group of opposition fighters, who besieging a cluster of apartment buildings close to Muammar Gaddafi’s captured compound of Bab al-Aziziya said they believed the Libyan dictator was hiding there with some of his sons.
Revolutionaries were exchanging heavy gunfire with Gaddafi loyalists inside the buildings.
One of the fighters involved in the battle, Muhammad Gomaa, said:"They are together. They are in a small hole. Today we finish. Today we will end that."
Libya’s revolutionary forces announced on Wednesday that a $1.6 million bounty has been set for Gaddafi and said they were pressing in towards his hometown of Sirte, a day after they swept through his Tripoli compound.
Mustafa Abdel Jalil, the chairman of Libya’s Benghazi-based Transitional National Council (TNC), announced an amnesty or pardon for any of Gaddafi’s inner circle "who kill or capture him."
The TNC military council in the western city of Misratah said on Wednesday that its fighters had captured al-Washka -- a town 56 kilometers (35 miles) west of Sirte --and were meeting little resistance as they continued their push towards Gaddafi’ s hometown.
Libya has been the scene of intense fighting between regime troops and revolutionary fighters since a revolution seeking to topple Gaddafi began in mid-February.
