‘Struggle will continue until Gaddafi is overthrown’
The head of the Libyan opposition’s interim governing council has stated that fighting will continue until the Gaddafi regime is overthrown.
In an interview with Iran’s Fars news agency published on Sunday, former justice minister Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, who is currently the head of the interim governing council, said, “The Libyan nation will never give up the struggle until the complete removal of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.”
He added, “The only way forward for Muammar Gaddafi is to flee the country and to leave power.”
The opposition leader once again urged the countries of the international community to fulfill their responsibilities in regard to oppressed nations and to support the Libyan people by imposing a no-fly zone on the country to stop attacks by the regime’s fighter jets.
Commenting on the emergency session held by Arab League foreign ministers on Saturday, Abdul-Jalil said, “I appreciate all countries that are supporting Libya, and I want them to back us up in the current difficult circumstances.”
He condemned the massacres and other atrocities committed by Gaddafi and his mercenaries, and added, “Although there is no balance between our military equipment and Gaddafi’s army, the victory will belong to the people.”
