Quake hits southeastern Iran
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale has struck Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
The quake occurred on Sunday at 1:54 a.m. local time (2224 GMT on Saturday). No fatalities or damages have been reported yet.
The epicenter of the tremor was in the town of Husseinabad, 28.6 degrees north latitude and 59.1 degrees east longitude, at a depth of five kilometers, which is located on the border of Kerman and Sistan-Baluchestan provinces.
Earlier this week, another strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale jolted Husseinabad, killing several people and injuring dozens of others.
Last week’s quake also rocked the cities of Zahedan, Bam, Khash, and Iranshahr.
Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world.
