Tehran Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nader Mortezapour, has staged a performance in Doha as part of the programs scheduled for the ongoing Iran’s Cultural Week in Qatar.

The orchestra played pieces in two sections on Friday night. The first section included a piece from the Bijan and Manijeh Symphony — a folklore Khorasani composition by Arsalan Kamkar — and the original score of the 1976 movie by Moustapha Akkad, Muhammad: Messenger of Allah. Beethoven’s 5th Symphony in C minor was also played in the second part.

The performance was attended by Qatar’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari.

Tehran Symphony Orchestra will later stage performances at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on November 11 and 12.

Iran’s Cultural Week opened in the Qatari capital, Doha, on November 4th in a ceremony attended by a host of ranking Iranian and Qatari officials as well as cultural figures and academics.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, along with a delegation of over 150 Iranian cultural officials, is taking part in Iran’s Cultural Week in Doha.

“Celebrating Iran Cultural Week in Qatar can lay the groundwork for broad cooperation in different areas between the two countries,” Hosseini said on the fringes of a ceremony marking the event.

The other highlights of the week-long event include plays in Arabic, a visual arts exhibition, Qur’anic activities and screening several Iranian films at Doha movie theaters.
