Butterflies stretch wings across Hamedan in children’s filmfest
The 24th Hamedan International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults kicked off Friday in the city’s Qods stadium where hundreds of enthusiastic children and cineastes took part.
The city is playing host to a great number of guests among whom 150 cineastes are coming from 40 countries this year, said an official from the festival Mohammad Seifikar.
Hamedan with nine theaters is covering the screening programs of the festival, while 12 more theaters in other provincial cities will also be screening the films participating in this year’s festival.
Malayer, Lalejin, Nahavand, Tuyserkan, Qahavand and Bahar are some of the cities hosting the event.
Children across the city will be informed of the news of the festival by a bus which will drive across the city all day. The bus will also be screening several children movies during the event.
A special award is dedicated to the best children film with the religious central theme. “The films depicting religious education will be reviewed at the festival and the best movie will be awarded,” Hamedan’s Friday prayer leader was quoted as saying.
Organizers of the festival will also be honoring four veterans of Iranian cinema with lifetime achievement awards on the closing day October 12.
The tribute will be paid to the deceased film producer Mohammad-Baqer Ashtiani, actor Morteza Ahmadi and comedy actors Akbar Abdi and Alireza Khamseh.
