Leader calls Pakistan flood most urgent issue of Islamic world
The Supreme Leader called the devastating floods in Pakistan which have left about 20 million homeless the most urgent issue of the Islamic world and called for an immediate humanitarian assistance to Pakistan by Muslim nations and governments including Iran.
“The nation and government of Iran, other Muslim nations and governments in every corner of the world, Islamic organizations particularly the Organization of the Islamic Conference, must rush with all their capacity to the help of the Pakistan nation and government,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei told top officials and ordinary people who congregated at Tehran University campus to hold Eid al-Fitr prayers.
The Leader also hit out at certain powers and terrorist groups who are misusing the situation to destabilize Pakistan.
“Some (countries and groups) are trying to turn Pakistan into their own military garrison,” the Leader noted.
He added it is hoped that Pakistan would act to its duties in the best way possible to get rid of the current situation.
Elsewhere in his talks, Ayatollah Khamenei said the so-called Middle East peace conference in Washington was intended to cover up crimes committed by the Zionist occupiers in Palestine.
“To cover up their crimes, the enemies of the Palestinian people and the supporters of the Zionist occupiers held a meeting in Washington and called it a ‘peace conference’.”
The Leader asked, “But the peace of whom with whom?”
The Leader added in the light of realities in Palestine it is “absurd” to talk about peace.
The Leader also described the Judization of the holy Qods as a great crime by Zionists, insisting that “Muslim nations and governments must act to their important duties in the face of this plot.”
He also praised the resistance of the Palestinians against Zionists.
“Today, the Palestinian nation is more determined and more powerful than any other time and undoubtedly” they will put an end to the occupation of their land by the fake regime of Israel, the Leader asserted.
----United Islamic front needed to counter enemies
Also on Friday the Supreme Leader said the formation of a united Islamic front is the only way to confront the enemies of Islam.
“Muslim nations must get closer to each other day by day and take steps toward unity,” the Supreme Leader told a gathering of senior officials and ambassadors from Islamic countries on Eid al-Fitr.
The Leader said this conviction that the enemies are on good terms with a group of Muslims and against some others is a wrong idea because they are in animosity with Islam which urges resistance against the bullying powers.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that today the Iranian nation is a role model among Muslim nations and is keeping a close eye on world developments and the issues of the Islamic world.
