Iran to host 60 countries at Qur’an competition
Ninety contestants from 60 countries will participate in the 27th International Qur’an Competition which will kick off in Tehran on July 9, head of the Endowments and Charity Affairs Organization said.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Hojjatoleslam Ali Muhammadi said the competition is slated to begin on July 9 and will run till July 14.
“The international event symbolizes the country’s Qu’ranic activities,” he said, adding that one of the competition’s objectives is the promotion of Qur’anic concepts.
He noted that the paper writing section has been added to the competition for the first time. “A call for papers was issued late last year and many papers by researchers from Iran and other countries have been submitted to the secretariat of the competitions.”
Muhammadi went on to say that cultural programs have been planned to be held on the sidelines of the competition including the Qur’anic tales festival.
