A Part of Fadak Sermon
O you, brave young men! You, who represent the powerful arms of Islam! You, who have assisted and rescued It devotedly! Why do I see this indifference and this carelessness of yours, in front of my rightful claim?!
What is this negligence [nonchalance] from your part, in front of the unjust ice [wrong.] that is being done against my person?!
Was it not in fact my father, the prophet who had said: “To respect the child, is to respect the father”?! How rapidly have you changed color, and turned over the situations, and deviated from the right path…! You have greatly the power and the force to claim my right, and my part of the justice: from the physical force to the number of number of your men, and the equipments that you possess, and which are necessary for you, so as to enable you to do this for me!
Do you pretend that Mohammad [may God bless him and his family!] is already dead and buried …? And that with his departure, everything has come to an end, forever?! Effectively it is so… His death was a terrible blow for the status or Islam. A true tragedy that rained down a dust of sadness on our heads. A deep crack was formed then, which has become bigger, and which will never be closed again! In truth, the earth has darkened with the absence of the Prophet, and the pale stars are in mourning, with no glitter whatsoever. Because of the absence of the Prophet, all wishes and hopes have been disappointed and gone with the wind; the mountains have collapses; all due respect – towards the Prophet – have vanished from the face of earth, and no limit whatsoever [inviolable enclosure], has been safely preserved! In truth, his death is great event, a terrible misfortune, a very bitter and sad calamity, and an irreparable loss; nothing similar to it was ever seen, and nothing will be equaled to it…! But know that the Book of God [the Holy Qur’an], had already predicted this misfortune. The same Book that is in every one of your households, and which is being read day and night by you all, sometimes with a loud voice, some other times with a lowered voice, and with various tones. An irrefutable event that had also happened to the Prophets of times bygone and the divine Messengers in the past, because death, is an inexorable Divine Command:
“Mohammad is naught but a Messenger; Messengers have passed away before him. Why, if he should die or is slain, will you turn about on your heels? If any man should turn about on his heels, he will not harm God in any way. And God will recompense the thankful. “[The Family of Imrân – 144]
